Louisville Metro DARE No More PDF Print E-mail

During the recent budget cutting efforts in Jefferson County, Kentucky, the Louisville Metro government has chosen to stop having it's officers teach the DARE program.  The officers currently assigned to teach DARE will be placed in other assignments throughout the county as of July 1, 2009.    Most of the schools provided funding for t-shirts and other classroom items and the workbooks used by the students were provided at no charge to the Louisville Metro Police for the schools through a grant administered by the Kentucky State DARE Coordinator.   While the movement of manpower will increase by a few the number of officers on the street, since there will be no layoffs of these officers, there will be little cost savings.

The Kentucky DARE Association would like to thank the members of the Louisville Metro Police Department for their many years of support of DARE and the children of Jefferson County / Metro Louisville.
